We need to be well to do well. It is common for people to want to do a lot and in the end forget about themselves. This can lead to several problems, from Burnout syndrome to depression. And in this state, who will be able to generate a positive impact? So, I separated these self-care tips for you who have a very tight routine.
What is self-care
Self-care is the act of taking care of yourself, as the name says. These are all those actions you take to feel better about yourself, that is, to increase your own well-being. It means giving value and dedicating time to yourself, to your thoughts, emotions and wishes.
There are four types of self-care:
The following self-care tips cover all types of self-care.
Why is it important to practice self-care?
When I was in college I wanted to change the whole world at once. I wanted to revolutionize the way things were, I wanted to do a thousand side projects, I wanted to do an internship, get the best grades, participate in competition teams, I wanted everything!
What I didn’t see was that I was running out in the process. I often felt stressed and overwhelmed, but I didn’t take a minute for myself. Until I got sick, in bed, away from everything and I was forced to rethink.
Since then, I always try to take a few minutes out of my day just for myself, to take care of myself. It is already part of my routine and makes all the difference for me.
Are you feeling stressed and exhausted? Or have you already learned that it is necessary to take some time for your own well-being?

Putting the body in motion can be very helpful in aligning thoughts that are out of alignment. So it is a good idea to set aside at least 15 minutes a day to walk and pay attention to your surroundings. You can walk to work, stop a little further or enjoy lunch time for that.
During the walk, enjoy the beauty of life. Look at the streets, the people, the cars. But also look at yourself and try to understand what is going on inside. If possible, walk during the day outdoors. Allow yourself to take a little sun!
Use your creativity
We have two cerebral hemispheres: the rational and the emotional. On a daily basis, the rational side is dominant, especially for those who deal with many responsibilities. Therefore, it is important to meet the needs of the emotional side to achieve balance and be able to think of more innovative solutions.
One way to do this is to be creative. So include in your routine activities that let your creativity run! Draw, paint, magazine, color, sing, dance, write, crochet, whatever it is! Allow yourself the freedom to create.
Write your thoughts
When you feel your mind very agitated, put it out. Set aside a few minutes for yourself, make sure no one is going to interrupt you, get a notebook and write down everything you are feeling. Don’t worry if they make sense, just put everything on paper to clear your mind.
Then, reread that notebook and be as understandable as if it were your best friend’s feelings. You would treat her well, wouldn’t you? Be so nice to yourself!
Organize your space
Its outer space is a direct reflection of the interior. Therefore, organizing your space is a way to organize your mind. Organize the areas in which you spend most of your time, such as your bedroom and your workspace. Make sure you have space to store everything you need in those areas. This makes it easier to keep organized over time.
Enjoy a tasty dinner
Invite your partner, friends, and family or enjoy your own company. Cook your favorite dish or go to your favorite restaurant and order that delicious food. The important thing is to enjoy the meal without distractions. Leave your phone alone and feel 100% present, delighting with each flavor. A delicious food is almost an affection in the soul.
Make a Happiness List
Write a list of all the people / places / things that make you feel happy and that make you smile. A good self-care tip is to use this list as a guide, a reference to do more and more in your days.
Take care of your health
Monitor your health, check up regularly. On a daily basis, maintain healthy habits, such as regular physical activity and sufficient hours of sleep.
Send unconditional love to yourself
one of the most beautiful practices is the sending of unconditional love. Imagine someone loving you, regardless of what you did, if you made a mistake, if you said something you shouldn’t, if you’re not in your best shape. Now imagine all the love in the universe going to you. Beautiful is not it?
To have this is very easy. You just need to calm your mind and ask God, the universe, the Creator of everything that is or how you feel most comfortable to send unconditional love to you. Ready! Now just feel that love entering your body, you can imagine a pink cloud surrounding your body. And it’s done!
This is a tip of self-care and self-esteem. Make it a priority in your life to strengthen your self-love. I already wrote a whole article about how you can have more self-love, be sure to read!
Do the Hoʻponopono for yourself
Hoʻponopono is a Hawaiian technique of reconciliation and forgiveness. And who needs our forgiveness more than we do, who are so strict and critical of our mistakes? So, whenever you need to, repeat to yourself:
I love you.
I am grateful.
The “I’m sorry” is to apologize for having done yourself harm unconsciously.
The “forgive me” is to ask for forgiveness for having created this for you and at that moment that creation is zeroed. Forgiveness is never for others, but always for yourself.
The “I love you” is to transform the blocked energy through love.
The “I am grateful” is to express your gratitude and faith that everything is already resolved.
Chat with a friend
Maintaining positive, healthy and supportive relationships is essential for good self-care. Call that friend who always supports you and catch up.
Detox your social media
Challenge yourself to reduce the time you spend on social media. There was a time when we all lived without social media, so taking a day away is totally possible.
In addition, you will probably be surprised at how much free time you will get!
Take a relaxing bath
If you are a person who bathes in the morning, you probably go through your shower for 5 to 10 minutes to be able to run to work and start the day.
Now do it differently and take the time to be there and enjoy your bath, even if it means waking up a little earlier.
Add some essential oils to your bath, put on some music, use a nice soap, leave indirect lighting, whatever you want to do to make it a more relaxing experience.
Each food brings with it a vibration, an energy. When we eat, we are putting all of that energy into us. It is challenging to feel good after putting certain energies in the body. Have you noticed how you don’t feel well after overdoing it?
For all these reasons, if you really love yourself, you eat well, take care of your body and, consequently, of yourself as a whole.
Take a few minutes of the day to pay attention to your breathing. There are several breathing techniques that are proven to have immediate effects.
I personally like the 4-stroke technique very much. Breathe deeply filling your belly and lungs by counting to 4. Hold the air for the same time. Exhale counting to 4 as well. Keep your lungs empty for that same time and then restart the cycle.
Do this cycle about 5 times and feel the benefits!
Enjoy a good night’s sleep
Change the sheets with clean, smelling ones. Light a candle or throw some ambient perfume. Switch off the electronics at least an hour before going to bed. Take advantage of this moment to replenish your body’s energies.
Try something new
Go to the class you are thinking of attending. Go try that guitar class or that yoga session. Learn a new skill. It can be simple, or it can be something that requires more of you, like learning to climb. Allow yourself to learn something new.
